Yup I lied, I didn't stay ahead of the busy weekends and posts I should have had completed and updated long ago...So here goes...
Well I haven't been to Manson's Greater Crater Days since before I was married 5 years ago, but this year was my 10 year class reunion so we headed back to Manson for the last weekend in June. Friday night we stopped in Fort Dodge and enjoyed supper at Mineral City with Grandma Marjean. The kids were well behaved (thank goodness) and the food was great. It was nice that Grandma didn't have to prepare or clean up after the meal, and we could all just enjoy each other!
Saturday morning we got up and took Caleb out to Great Grandpa Ron's house to help Uncle Houston get the semi ready to be in the parade. Caleb enjoyed sitting in the semi and Grandpa Dennis even gave him a ride in the tractor. Now he thinks he needs a sprayer for his tractor since the tractor was hooked up to the sprayer.
After that we picked up Aubrey and headed into Manson to enjoy the parade with Great Grandma Ruth, Uncle Adam, Aunt Sarah, and cousins Nolan, Landon, and Mabel. As far as Caleb and parades go the parade went well. He spent most of the time with his hands on his ears, but occasionally he would take his hands off his ears and pick up some candy. For the temperature only being in the 70s it felt much hotter! After the parade we all loaded up and headed out to Grandma Marjean's for lunch. As usual the meal was delicious, and most of us headed outside for some fun in the lake! Caleb is a little too fearless and would simply jump off the dock by himself if no one was watching. He's going to need to take swimming lessons soon, so he can be safer when around water. We also took a short boat ride which Caleb enjoyed (it was his first ride of the summer and only second in his lifetime. His first boat ride last summer did not go so well!).
After a fun afternoon Matt and I got ready and headed into town for my big class reunion. My friend (and cousin since I married Matt) Jeni Sinek joined us. It was nice to see so many familiar faces even when I haven't seen the majority of them since graduation day. We had a fun time and really enjoyed catching up.
Sunday morning came early, and we headed off to church with Grandma Marjean. It was the church's celebration Sunday, so after the service we enjoyed good food, fellowship, and fun outside. The kids were feeling the exhaustion from such a fun weekend and by early afternoon it was time to head home to Northwood. By the time we reached Pocahontas both kids were sleeping, so Matt and I enjoyed a nice and quiet ride home.
