The M&M Johnson Family: Labor Day Weekend at Grandma's!

Labor Day weekend we packed up the car and headed for Manson/Pomeroy for the weekend. And we accomplished a lot!

Saturday we drove back and went out to Grandpa Dennis and Grandma Linda's. We hung out with Uncle Adam's family, Aunt Hunter, and Grandpa Ron. The kids enjoyed running around outside and Grandpa Dennis smoked some yummy meat. Then we headed on over to Grandma Ruth's and enjoyed a quiet evening there.

Sunday Grandma Marjean and our family got up and going to the Community Orchards by Fort Dodge. They have an awesome "Back Forty" full of all sorts of fun for the kids. We met up again with Uncle Adam, Aunt Sarah, Landon, and Mabel. The kids wore themselves out playing until we decided to head to the Sportspage for lunch. (I think this was the first time we've all gone out to eat together :-)

After the Sportspage we stopped back at the Orchard for a bit more fun, then headed into Fort Dodge for some ice cream at Dairy Queen before heading on back to Grandma Ruth's. Landon invited Caleb to stay over at his house, so Caleb had his first official overnight stay :-) Aside from a lot of giggling and Caleb almost falling out of bed multiple times it was a huge success! I'm sure this is the first of many!

Monday we planned a get together with a whole lot of family at Grandma Ruth's. People started arriving around 10:00 and we enjoyed coffee and rolls. Then we started playing some games including a scavenger hunt, a relay race, and sardines. Then we enjoyed a delicious meal and played a few more games including a water balloon toss and a bit of baseball. Lastly there was a parade that even had some candy thrown out to it's audience :) But by the late afternoon it was time to pack up and head home. To our dismay, neither child fell asleep on the ride home but they remained in relatively good spirits.

It was early to bed that night! And our next trip back we hope to get a ride in a tractor, combine, or semi :)
